When should I make a reservation?

Our company works on first-come, first-serve basis. Therefore, the earlier you contact us, the better chance you have of making a reservation. It is preferable to make a reservation at least 4 weeks in advance. However, if your move is in the middle of the month on a weekday, 2 weeks in advance would be sufficient.

I have flammable, valuable, and perishable items. Can you transport any of them?

Flammables such as a gas tank, valuables such as jewelry, and perishables such as refrigerated food, are not allowed to be transported on our trucks for safety and liability reasons. Please see a complete list of those items on our Prohibited Item list.

Can I pack the dresser drawers with items?

Depending on how heavy the dresser is and how many flights of stairs are at each location, we will advice you whether or not you should fill it up with items. Normally a 6 drawer dressers should not be filled with any items. However, 3 drawer dresser, not from real wood, can filled with light cloth if both locations have an elevator or no stairs. Heavy items such as books should not be placed in the dresser drawers, regardless of the side of the dresser and the flights of stairs.

Can I do my own packing of fragile items?

We recommend that packing of fragile items is done by one of our trained professionals. However, if you feel more comfortable packing everything on your own, we strongly advice that all items are individually wrapped with packing paper or bubble wrap, having a 1/2 inch of cushion in between. All heavy items must be placed on the bottom of each box. All boxes needs to be sealed well and marked with the wording “FRAGILE!”

What distance moves do you provide?

We provide inter-building, local, long distance, interstate, and intrastate moves.

What type of services do you provide?

We provide packing and unpacking, disassembly and assembly, loading and unloading, and furniture rearrangement. We also rent out plastic boxes that are durable, reusable and great for the environment compared to carton boxes.

What size moves do you service?

We can assist you with the smallest, one item move, as well as a full house. The size of the move is irrelevant and we can assist you with all of your moving needs. Please keep, for small moves we do have a 2 hours minimum on our labor. Larger moves may require a team of more than just 3 movers.

How would I know if my move will be per hour or by weight? What are some additional charges?

Local moves would be charged by the hour. Long distance moves, over 100 miles from the origin to the destination, are determined by the weight of your items. It is in our best interest to provide you with the most accurate estimate when making a reservation. For that reason, H2H Movers has implemented a software that accurately determines the weight of all of your items, prior of us loading them. Please keep in mind that additional charges will apply for packing and unpacking, which can be determined by our tariff schedule.

How to get an accurate estimate?

The best way to get in accurate estimate is to schedule an in-home visit. When getting an estimate, it is important that you are as descriptive as possible. Make a complete list of all the items that need to be moved, including any miscellaneous. Small items may look easy to move but if they are not packed properly, could require multiple walking trips to the truck or having to take the elevator in your building many times. Large items should always be precisely described since we do require a larger crew size for heavy items. Be aware of some companies “low-balling” your estimate. There are many scammers who would offer you to complete the move for less than it should be and then “hostage” your goods before you pay them the final price, which usually is much higher than the estimate. It is important to know that you are not required to pay more than 110% of the estimate at the time of delivery and the movers are required by law to unload all of your items. Nevertheless, you are required to pay in full, any amount over the 110%, within 30 days from the time of delivery.

When should I obtain an estimate for my move?

Obtaining a quote for your move should be done as soon as you are aware that you will be moving. Every quote provided by a moving company should be free and it should not require a cash deposit. That also applies for in-home estimates. Beware of companies that require you to put money up front in order to obtain a quote.

When is the best time to move?

The best time to move is always when not many other people are moving. This way you can be sure there will be a truck available and we can schedule you for the best time slot. In general most people move the last week of each and every month. Moreover, during the summer months, June-October, many people are looking relocate. Ideally, the best time to move is in the middle of the month, on a weekday, and during the Spring time. Reservations in the morning get the first priority and the movers are always on time. Reservations in the afternoon and evening need to have a time window for arrival since there are many unforeseeable factors such as traffic and weather, which can delay movers’ arrival.

How to find a reliable moving company?

Finding a reliable moving company is not easy and many people fall into scams on classified ads. When choosing a moving company, it is important that you look for several important pieces of information. First, the company needs to have a web site. Moving companies without license and insurance are not allowed to advertise on the internet. When viewing the company’s web site, take a look of the bottom of the web site and make sure they have a physical address and license information. Lastly, you can also check the company’s reviews on reliable sites such as BBB, Angie’s List, and Yelp.
